Could call of duty Vita be an original game?

A minor snippet of news from Guy Longworth (playstation brand marketing) but an interesting morsel nonetheless.
Call of duty was announced, by Sony, as coming to PSVita at last years E3, but details have been slim ever since. It is not know whether the title will be a simple port of this years game (black ops 2?) or something entirely new.
However, speaking to Game trailers, Longworth has mentioned that his teenage sons are looking forward to the new Call of duty for vita this autumn.

"Of course in the autumn, they're really looking forward to Call of Duty on Vita," he said, adding, "and we think that's going to be an absolute game-changer for the platform."

 This is somewhat noteworthy as up till now Call of duty games have settled into a familiar November launch window and autumn would put this new Vita game ahead of that. It seems unlikly that Activision would seek to launch this years entry on Vita before the usual formats. So does this mean Call of duty Vita is a new game entirely?
